Try it now

Free sample mock test

Pick a stream, including MBA, and answer five questions against the clock. It works the way the paid tests would: palette, mark for review, negative marking and a full answer review.

B.Tech cutoffs · JoSAA 2026

All 23 IITs and their B.Tech closing ranks

Closing rank is the last rank that got a seat. These are from JoSAA 2026 Round 5, the last regular round, for the OPEN category, gender-neutral seats. Ranks are JEE Advanced ranks.

Enter your rank to see which IITs and branches were within reach last year.

IITCSE closing rankElectricalMechanicalCivilIn reach for you

Electrical, Mechanical and Civil ranks were available for the nine oldest IITs only. For the other IITs, check those branches on the JoSAA site. Other categories (OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST), female supernumerary seats and PwD seats have different, usually higher, closing ranks.

Cutoffs change every year with the paper difficulty, seat matrix and how many students choose each branch. Treat this as a guide to plan choices, not a guarantee. The figures are collected from Cracku's Round 5 page and Cracku's opening and closing ranks page, which reproduce JoSAA data. Confirm against the official JoSAA portal before you finalise choices.

Where, how much, and what after

IIT details: location, campus size, fees and packages

Tuition is the same at every IIT. What changes is campus size, hostel and mess cost, and what graduates are offered. Sort the table to compare.

Read the package columns with care. IITs do not publish placement numbers in one standard way, and some have stopped announcing their highest package. Each figure below shows its season and where it came from, and they are not directly comparable. A highest package is one student's offer, often abroad or in trading. The average is a better guide, and the median (what the middle student gets) is better still. For a real decision, read the placement report on each IIT's own website.

IITLocationCampus sizeApprox. 4-year costHighest packageAverage package

Campus size. Area is in acres (1 acre is about 0.4 hectare), mostly from each IIT's Wikipedia page and checked against a published list of campus sizes. A “~” means sources differ slightly or the number was rounded. Newer IITs are still building their permanent campuses, so the land is often larger than what is built so far.

Fees. Tuition is ₹2 lakh a year (₹8 lakh over four years) at all 23 IITs for General, OBC-NCL and EWS students whose family income is above ₹5 lakh. It is waived for SC, ST and PwD students. For family income of ₹1–5 lakh, two-thirds of tuition is waived, and below ₹1 lakh tuition is nil. The 4-year cost above adds hostel, mess and other charges at 2025-26 rates for a General student. It is an estimate, and it moves with the hostel and mess you choose. Check each IIT's current fee circular.

Packages. LPA means lakh rupees per year and Cr means crore. “Estimate” means no dated report was found, so the figure is a rough, widely repeated number. Figures marked 2023-24 are older, and the newer IITs have often not released recent reports. Where nothing reliable was found, the table says so instead of guessing.

Sources used: Cracku fee structure, iQuanta fee breakup, Cracku IIT placements, IITian Vibes placements guide and CollegeDekho. These sites often disagree, and I picked the figure with a clear season where I could.

NITs · JoSAA 2026

All 31 NITs: cutoffs, campus, fees and packages

NIT seats are split into a Home State (HS) quota for students of the NIT's own state and an Other State (OS) quota for everyone else. Ranks below are JEE Main ranks (CRL) for the last regular round, Round 5.

Enter your rank to see where CSE was within reach last year.

Closing ranks for B.Tech Computer Science

NITOther State quotaHome State quotaFor your rank

Closing rank is the last rank that got a seat. OPEN category, gender-neutral seats. CSE is usually the hardest branch at every NIT, and other branches close at higher ranks, so more options are open to you than the table shows. Home State seats are only for students who live in that NIT's state, and some small states have very few seats, so their Home State ranks swing a lot.

Location, campus size, fees and packages

Same warning as the IITs, and stronger. NITs publish placement numbers in many different ways, and sources often disagree. Where they do, the table shows a range and says so. For several NITs only one unconfirmed source reported a highest package, and averages were found for only 16 of 31. Read the placement report on each NIT's own website before you decide.

NITLocationCampus sizeFees for 4 yearsHighest packageAverage package

Fees. Tuition is about ₹1.25 lakh a year (₹62,500 a semester) at most NITs for General, OBC-NCL and EWS students, and a few NITs charge a different amount. It is waived for SC, ST and PwD students at many NITs, and for families below an income limit, so check the rules of the NIT you want. The first line is the approximate academic fee for four years. The second line is the hostel fee for four years, which depends on room type, and mess charges may be billed separately. Two totals in the source looked wrong (NIT Meghalaya and VNIT Nagpur), so those show "Check NIT site".

Campus size. In acres, mostly from each NIT's Wikipedia page or its own website. “~” means the figure is approximate. Newer NITs are still building permanent campuses, and for a few I could not find a reliable figure.

Packages. LPA means lakh rupees per year. Averages are overall B.Tech unless the note says otherwise. CSE and IT averages are higher. Season is often unclear, and most figures are reported for 2025-26 without confirmation from the NIT.

How it works

Four stops from confused to admitted

01

Clarity session

A 45-minute conversation about marks, interests, budget and city. You leave with two or three realistic directions.

02

Exam plan

We pick the entrance exams that matter, map the syllabus and set a weekly practice rhythm.

03

Mocks and review

Regular timed tests show where marks leak: calculation errors, weak chapters or time pressure.

04

Counselling and joining

Rank in hand, we plan choice filling, track rounds and check every document before reporting.

Questions

What families usually ask

Which class should a student start from?

Class 9 or 10 is a good time to think about streams, but it is never too late. Students in Class 12, drop years and graduates also use us for course and exam decisions.

Do mock tests match the real exam?

They copy the format, timing and marking scheme as closely as possible, so you build speed and exam habits. They are practice, and a score on a short set is not a rank prediction.

Can you guarantee admission?

No one can. We help you choose well, prepare steadily and avoid avoidable mistakes in forms, rounds and documents. The result still depends on your performance and seat availability.

Do parents join the sessions?

Yes. Parents are welcome in the counselling session, where budget, location and career expectations are discussed openly together with the student.

Is the first mock test really free?

The sample set on this page is free to attempt as many times as you like.
